Ciara McGarrity is an Irish design consultant based in Kube Rathgar, with over 20 years' experience in the field of interior design. Ciara’s career began in London, within the creative field of Visual Merchandising and Retail Design. Initially working for Liberty of London, she went on to run her own premium soft furnishing business, serving high end residential market throughout London. She founded her own textile brand ‘WAFFLE Design’, as a passion project following various global trips including textile tours in India 10 years ago.

On returning to her hometown of Dublin 4 years ago, Ciara chose to focus on the area of Kitchen design, knowing kitchens are always at the heart of every home. Ciara has been delighted to work with Kube ever since. She is now based in the Rathgar showroom, currently assisting Kube’s clients to achieve their dream kitchen through personal consultations. We asked her a few questions that could help you in designing your dream kitchen journey.

If you are looking for a kitchen renovation, and don’t know where to start, Ciara has some advice for you.

  1. Begin to collect visual references to help your kitchen designer understand your style preferences. Think about what you like or dislike about your current kitchen layout and start to compile a wish list for your dream kitchen so your designer can help you understand how to make the most of your kitchen!
  2. Visit our showroom for a friendly and inspiring consultation to discuss your layout options and leave with a full understanding of our product range, how we can help you and a complete cost breakdown of your project. Bring along your kitchen plan or a basic sketch and photos of your space to talk it through with your interior designer, the dimensions of the space will help form the foundations of your dream kitchen.
  3. Keep in mind that interior trends come and go, so choose timeless colors and materials, something that you are going to love for years to come. Choosing neutral colors for the units and bringing color in on the walls for example can be a really effective and also sensible choice. Bear in mind that the style of your kitchen will shape the style of the rest of your home.
  4. Consider a second-hand kitchen if you are looking for the best price and quality. We have a few ex-display kitchens available in our showrooms, most of them come with built-in appliances. Find out more here.
